Colorado Rockies Beat San Francisco Giants
Last night the Rockies showed what their offence was really capable of to secure a win over the Giants by scoring 17 runs to the Giant's 8. The Rockies really showed their fans that opening day is not going to be representative of the season. On the Home Opener the Rockies were shut down by the Giants losing 7 to 0! Second game in the series was different. The Rockies played strong defence and incredible offence. The game was exciting with the Rockies at bat even without any home runs. I am so glad baseball season is back! GO COLORADO ROCKIES!
Adeline Gray Working Towards Gold
So the weekend of the 20th my sister, Adeline Gray will be going to Iowa City for Olympic Trials. I am so proud of what she has done so far at only 21 years old. She is so amazing! Adeline has a very very great chance of being the Olympian for the United States Women's Freestyle Wrestling Team at 63 kg. Adeline will be competing all day long wrestling to make the final matches where she will face the number one girl in her weight class, Elena Pirozhkova, who sits out all day until the finals because she won the World Team Trials. Elena is 26 years old and has more experience on the Olympic Circuit than Adeline, but I believe that Adeline will beat Elena best two out of three matches to claim her title as the youngest U.S. Olympic Wrestler. No matter win or lose Adeline is an incredible athlete and will show how strong she is and how hard she has worked her whole life to get to this point. Keep your eyes out for Adeline Gray because she will be shocking the world!
Feed Your Mood
There is a new pill out there to make your mood better. There are just key ingredients that your body needs to be happier. The example used in the article was cars. You should not put diesel in a Ferrari so you should only put good things in your body. I agree we should eat healthy, but now there is a pill you take in the morning that will improve your mood. I wonder how much of this study was just the placebo effect. I kinda want to see if it works. Check out the article here.

Smoking made Non Deadly
I think that this electronic smoking thing sounds awesome! I personally do not smoke and I am not really a big fan of smoking, but I do understand that people love it and are addicted to it. I don't care if they smoke or not I just thought that this little gadget sounded cool. You still get nicotine with out the smell or risks of normal smoking. They are also cost effective! Check them out HERE!

Not Dead
This is crazy! I know people make mistakes, but this is a big one for paramedics. Is he dead or not? In Australia paramedics pronounced a guy dead after a bad car accident, but when the coroner went to collect the body, he found a pulse. The guys was not dead! He was left for an hour or more alive while everyone else thought he was dead! Crazy stuff!
Autism Awareness Month
April is Autism Awareness Month! A new study came out last Friday claiming 1 in 88 kids suffer from Autism. That is up from 1 in 110 kids from last year. Studies are showing a 23 percent increase in children diagnosed with Autism in the last two years. My neighbor helped out with Autistic kids at the nearby elementary school and I have so much respect for her and those kids she helps. There are a ton of different levels of Autism, but it is still a debilitating disease that affects every aspect of life for those that suffer from it. Therapy is really starting to help children with Autism, but not the level we hope. Only about 10 percent are showing noticeable difference in behaviors with therapy. But show your support by wearing blue, putting in a blue porch light, and learn more about autism at autismspeaks.org.
IPad Envy
The new IPad is so cool. I got to play around on one this weekend and could not believe how nice it really was. I have always asked if the product was worth the cost and I am begging to think that this IPad may be. I want one! If I had the money I would have one already. I had a blast playing the different games, checking Facebook, and going through ITunes. I was impressed at how great the screen quality was and how responsive the touch screen was. I was looking into them a bit more and found this article and can see why it is rated number one!

Chocolate Helping Dieters
Who knew? Apparently chocolate is being studied as a diet food and passed with good reviews. I guess people that each chocolate 5 times a week have a body mass index score lower than that of those who eat chocolate less often. I personally don't like chocolate and I don't diet so this does not really apply to me, but my family and friends are chocolate addicts and they are in for some good news. The article linked here mentions a woman that is 5 foot 6 inches weighing 125 pounds. Well my first problem with that is, that woman is tiny!!!! She does not need to be dieting in the first place, if anything she should put on 5 pounds. Well I hope anyone trying to diet enjoys their chocolate too!
Florida Has Problems
Trayvon Martin, 17 was shot by a neighborhood watchmen over a month ago, and now there is a ton of controversy about the event. Was the killing a hate crime? Should the shooter be arrested? Is the Florida law valid? I think this is bull. A child is dead and his killer is not in jail because Florida has a stupid law saying that the boy was suspicious and the neighborhood watchmen was within the law in his actions. Martin was not armed for anything more than a sugar rush. He was carrying a bad a skittles and an iced tea. Really? This guy gets off free?
Chun and Byers Qualify Olympic Weights for U.S.A.
Clarissa Chun and Dremiel Byers wrestled this past weekend at the Pan American Olympic Qualifier in Florida. Chun took first which allows the United States to take a wrestler at the weight of 48 kilograms or 105.5 pounds to the London Olympics this August.Byers also took gold qualifying the 120 kilograms or 264.5 pound weight class. In order for a country to send athletes to the Olympic Games in wrestling, that country must send any athlete to a qualifying tournament, must be international. That athlete must win that tournament to claim a spot at all for that country at any weight. Chun needed to qualify the United States 48 kilogram spot that she held in the 2008 Olympics. We now have all the weights qualified to go to the Olympic Games in London for men and women wrestlers.

Manning for Tebow

I know lots of people are really upset that we are losing Tebow, but guys look at it this way, we are going to win more than the last quarter now! I did love Tebow while he was here, but when he grows up a little and gets better, and Manning is old well older we will try to get him back and he will be just like Elway. When Elway started he was not good at all and look what he did. He grew up and became a legend. I am excited Denver is going to dominate this year!!!! Tebow will be fine with Sanchez and the Jets. Number 18 will be good for us!
Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome
I suffer from this, and was unfortunate enough to have to have the surgery. For those that want to find out a little more about the condition click the link and read more indepth, but in short: Compartment Syndrome is when there is too much pressure in a compartment in your arm or leg, in my case my claves. There is no true know cause or reason it happens, only that it is seem mostly in athletes that excersise too hard or too long. The only thing proven to help at all is surgery which I got. There are high risks of nerve damage which I also have. There is a lot of pain, numbness, nerve problems, and scary happenings with this syndrome, but the one thing I should not have done was play through the pain. So if you think you have this, do not keep playing, get the needed tests. They suck, but it is worth being able to play again.
Adeline Gray Gaining Momentum Heading Into Trials
Adeline Gray claimed the 1st place spot at this weekend's Oklahoma Women's University Nationals! She had to face three strong competitors, one that she trains with at the Olympic Training Center, Veronica Carlson. Adeline and Veronica met in the finals where Adeline defeated her for the championship. Adeline is now looking ahead to April 20th which is Olympic Trails where she must battle to become the youngest wrestler to ever come out of the United States. With this win Adeline will come into the trials with some good confidence and some great momentum to help her win!!!!!! You can read a little bit more about Adeline's performance at the tournament through out this article, but you also get to know more about some other girls on the team.

I can't wait to watch her win at trails and again in LONDON!!!!!!!!!!!! Olympics here she comes!

Detective George Gray on 7News
My dad is a Denver Graffiti Detective and was on the news the other day! He did so well talking on camera. There are not many people that do the same thing as my dad, really it is mainly just him and the guy Gerard Alarcone he works with. They do so much helping to clean the city up and stop the tagging all over the city. Watch him on the news! He works very hard and has made progress making the penalties for violators greater in order to stop the destructive act.

Ibuprofen Helps Altitude Sickness
Ibuprofen really does help with altitude sickness! This is cool, it really works. I was in the mountains for spring break with my little sister and her friends. One of her friends got sick because of the altitude and my mom and I remembered hearing on the news about how they have done proven studies about how it helps. We always have Ibuprofen on hand and it really came in handy with this little girl's first time to the mountains. Ibuprofen helps!

Olympic Hopeful: Adeline Gray
Training for the Olympics is not a walk in the park. With training every day through diet, work outs, and mental preparation, these athletes deserve their glory. Adeline Gray, 21 year old Colorado Native, is going through this training. With an easy week her schedule consists of 12 team work outs including lifting and on the mat techniques. Gray is yearning for the first Women's Wrestling gold medal for the United States. To help her with her training she requires funding. Because training and living at the Olympic Training Center requires almost all of her time, she is selling shirts with her Olympic goals. The shirts are for sale through CradleGear. You can order them for $20 on the website. She is also selling shorts for $40.

Apparently gas leaks are not that uncommon. My sister comes running up to my room telling me that there are cops, firetrucks, and an ambulance in front of our house. Our neighbors had a gas leak in their house. When we walked outside the rotten egg smell was very strong and was the reason my neighbors are still alive. With out that rotten egg indicator their chances of making it through the night diminishes greatly. I am so glad that was mandatory in home making. This is a scary thing. I was curious about the rotten egg smell and found this pretty interesting.
Colorado State Wrestling Tournament!
So many wrestlers poured into the Pepsi Center this weekend. Starting early on Thursday morning, the 2012 Colorado High School State Wrestling Tournament was on. There were boys making history, boys proving themselves, girls paving their way in the sport, and there was a memorable weekend. Dwight Howes, Senior at Arvada high school, really had a fantastic showing by going undefeated this entire season. Howes took his second Colorado State Wrestling Championship on Saturday night. Howes is going to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs to train until he leaves for college in September. He will go to New York to wrestle for Hofstra University. I am so proud of him and the rest of the Arvada clan (Marcos Peralta and Garet Krohn).

Betting on Olympics for Charities...

Betting on the Olympic Trials is condoned by the United States Olympic Committee. Because those placing bets cannot gain any profit, they are wagering money on the qualifying of the athletes on the site. You can bet on if the athlete will make the Olympic team or not. Charities make all the profits from the bets placed. I think this is a cool idea to get more money for charities. The website is Charitybets.com to place your wager!
Wow! Tuberculosis is scary. Because TB is often lethal this is on the same level as the college meningitis outbreak a while back. Good thing the TB is latent (not actively symptomatic or contagious) still. TB can manifest from latent into pulmonary with no warning, and that is the stage it can kill. Because TB starts in the lungs, respiratory problems are a first sign of the bacterial infection. I just don't understand how almost half of all people tested at Longmont High School came up positive if the strain is not contagious yet. Questions to be answered soon I hope.

Adeline Gray, 21, is working hard on her 2012 Olympic quest. She just received an award for $15,000 for her bronze medal in Worlds. She is trying to stay healthy and happy as she works hard towards Olympic Trials in April. I am so proud of her and can't wait to watch her beat Elena. Adeline is ranked number two for the United Stated Women's Freestyle Wrestling. She is going to wrestle 63klg (138.5) and is training hard day in and day out. Future Olympian....YES!!!
